The Sim

The Starship Warbler is an active participant is in Starfleet Academy's Preparatory Program an auxiliary arm of the academy overseen by Professor Izzy Schröder, Commanding Officer of the Warbler. The program exists to actively recruit the curious and gifted minds of Federation member worlds and colonies, giving them an opportunity to spend several months aboard a Federation starship and learning the ropes in order to prepare them for the Starfleet Academy Entrance Examination or ready them for enlistment.

The program itself has existed for years in previous incarnations, but following the Dominion War, the number of applicants to Starfleet Academy has dropped sharply. Facing a steep service decline, the most recent program director, Izzy Schröder was given the opportunity to prove herself with an ambitious new direction for the program that takes Federation youth out of the classrooms and into deep space!

Parental consent and safety waivers of course are an absolute must in order for anyone to partake in the risky adventures of the starship Warbler. Operating in 'safer' regions of known space, the Warbler tends to operate withing Federation borders; however, deep space is not without its mysteries or perils.

Under the command of Schröder, the starship Warbler is crewed by trained individuals and received funding through the Federation Science Council and is registered by the United Federation of Planets' Department of Education. Though the starship itself is a fully equipped and armed starship, it does not actively engage in combat. It is a fully intended to be ship of peace though it is capable of defending itself.

Those participating in Commander Schröder's program will be issued the Warbler Student Uniform and wear these when class is in session or at an educational function.
