Mission: Plight of the Pyrithian Bat
Location: Office of CO | USS Warbler
Timeline: Current

Minato walked over the Commander's office looking at the orders on the Data PaDD. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking but hey it was the fact of the moment so who the hell was Minato to be questioning things. Shrugging Minato hit the chime and then knocked. "Knocky Knocky!"

Izzy Schröder was used to strange things - places for certain and at times people. Being part Betazoid, she was also accustomed to frivolous ceremonial matters and ornate decorations for no practical reason. Door chimes had a purpose. She was taken aback by the knocking that quickly followed the chime.

"Answery answer" she replied back as she stood from her desk and headed for the door. Once it opened she looked at the young man standing there. "Welcome to the Warbler. To what do I owe this peculiar disruption?"

Minato smiled grey blue eyes full of mirth. "Hello Commander! I'm Ensign Minato Takahashi reporting for duty. Final year Med Academy and instead of being stuck on that boring beautiful planet in a medical center you picked me to be the CMO-ish slash counselor, finish my residency here and from this point on you are my hero for doing that!" Minato smiled and held up a small package. "I come baring chocolate. I always say Betazoids thrive on chocolate and as a half Betazoid I will use that excuse to stuff myself with chocolate at every opportunity." Grinning Minato handed her the chocolate. "Can I come in and say hello and possibly talk your ear off?"

"Yes, Takahashi. I would love for you to come in. Have a seat and let's talk about your time here on Warbler" she said and gestured for him to enter and make himself at home.

She did not want him at first but the more she had thought about it, things happened for a reason. What that was she wasn't certain. "Chocolate was a good idea" she said placing the box on her desk.

He smiled. "Chocolate is always a good idea. It's yummy and a food group in itself." He looked around. "Oh good the medical gods didn't hear me and strike me down." He laughed as he went inside and took a seat. "Alright! I'm ready for my grilling!"

Izzy Schröder smiled at the man. "Sorry to disappoint you, Ensign Takahashi. I have no intention on grilling you. I'll let you know that you were not my first choice for this. You're over qualified, and why you are here I'm not sure, but you are. So, let's get to work. I have a handful of students aboard and they each have unique personalities and problems."

"Not your first choice?" He pouted. "I'm wounded but still happy to be here. I don't have to use turbo lifts and I'm finishing my final year amongst the stars so I'm over the moon." There was a sigh, "As for the students I met two! I was looking around sickbay and I met Jo and T'lari." Minato smiled. "I would say both have demons they need to conquer. What's really spooky was T'lari is a student from one of my friends. T'Yari told me about her I just never thought I would meet her." He sighed. "Jo...that's going to take some work. She's told me that she wishes to transition."

Izzy nodded "Yes, I was so distracted when I first met Jo and brought them aboard that I missed all the signs. Believe me, as an empath, I was disappointed in myself for not sensing their true nature, the internal struggle..." Izzy sighed. "We'll do what we can to support Jo as she finds who she is, but until they are of a more justifiable age my plan would be to concentrate on their emotional wellness rather than any physical or chemical alterations."

She smiled. "You haven't Ronan yet. All I can say is be prepared to answer a lot of questions. The Federation itself is practically a foreign concept to him."

Takahashi laughed. "Oh heck someone who can out talk me? I doubt it but will take up the challenge." Studying her a moment Minato said, "In all seriousness....is that a word?" Minato waved a hand. "It is now, in all seriousness I am happy to be here and even happier that I don't have to use turbo lifts."

"With only four decks, I believe stairs are functional and practical" she replied. "Though if need be, there is a lift although I'd never identify it as turbo. I'm fairly confident I can sprint down the stairway from deck one to deck four before the lift reaches its destination."

Minato snorted. "Yeah I have an irrational fear of those things...and with the recent incident...yeah. No." Sighing Minato said, "Other things about me is I'm half Romulan, and also, like you, I have Betazoid blood thanks to my mother, and I can pretty much attest to being 100 percent fabulous and totally good at my job. So you Commander need not worry...I'm also pretty sure I'm like 50 percent...er....14 percent annoying. I also have a chocolate addiction."

"Not entirely irrational then," stated Izzy. Truth be told she couldn't blame him. She had been stuck in a lift before. "I like chocolate though it's not something I indulge in. Romulan and Betazoid? Puberty must have been absolutely dreadful."

"You are telling me! And when I was just getting the hang of things my parents caught me with the son of ....an associate of my fathers. Then I pretty much ran...like off planet." Minato sighed. "Ahhhh the good old days." Grinning Minato looked over at her. "SO! Tell me about my commander with the fabulous hair."

Izzy Schröder smiled. "There's not much to tell. I went to Starfleet Academy on a science track. Zoology is my specialty. I've had some interesting postings throughout my career before switching over to academia."

"Okay Zoology is fun. I took a few classes. Now you get to command the ship! That's amazing. Why this program? I mean I get it, it builds minds and personalities but what drew you to this amazing program? I know you are the driving force behind it."

"Starfleet numbers are down," prefaced Izzy. "I know that Starfleet isn't for everyone. I chose this because I want to make a difference whether that be increasing applications to Starfleet Academy, enlistment, or strengthening our civilian avenues."

Minato smiled. "A worthy cause." Before anything further could be said the door chimed.
